Parish Progress Procurement

Lake Parish Council have confirmed the re-provision of the New Road Public Toilets, following public consultation and submission of an application to the Public Works Loan Board, as well as taking forward installation of a new pump at the Revetment Toilets ahead of next season.

Parish Chair Paul Brading said ‘New Road reprovision will cost in the order of £200,000 and is a significant capital investment for a Parish Council of our size, especially following the reprovision at Lake Cliff Gardens, and this has had a significant impact on our current, and future, budgets.’

Deputy Chair Adrian Whittaker added ‘The Parish Council has listened to the needs of residents and tried to prioritise reprovision with the resources available, responding to increased costs, ongoing vandalism, and recognising the poor condition of the facilities when they were permanently closed by the IW Council’.

Lake Parish Council have also allocated resources to support the Bay Place Plan, provision of Youth Services, community projects and events, and are in the process of consulting with residents on the 2024-25 budget and subsequent priorities.

Cllr Brading concluded ‘Parish facilities have suffered from anti-social behaviour, and we are working with other agencies to address them, and due to commissioning processes there have been delays taking forward plans for New Road and the Revetment’.

The Parish Council have brought forward plans for the Revetment Toilets, including sourcing a purpose-built replacement pump from America, as part of an engineering solution for the provision given its location and issues regarding accessing utilities.
